Why Do I Hate Vacuuming?

By: Sam Chan

I hate vacuuming. But I love mowing the lawn.

But aren’t they the same action?

Yes, but vacuuming is boring. It’s indoors.

But mowing the lawn is exciting. It’s outdoors. There’s danger. You can lose a toe while mowing the lawn!

Context is everything.

The same actions have a totally different meaning once we change the context.

It’s the same with our life.

Every day we do the same thing. We eat, sleep, pay the bills.

But what if we change the context?

We now do everything – not for ourselves – but for Jesus.

Our mundane actions now have a totally different meaning. They’re now part of God’s purpose for this universe.

And who knows what Jesus is going to do with what we do?

Because with Jesus, we don’t just lose a toe, we lose our whole life.

That’s true danger.

Now … if Jesus could only make doing the laundry more exciting!
