Was Your Bub Born in 2018? There’s a Free Bible Waiting for Them

The Bible: it’s still the most read, quoted and revered book ever published.

But there’s a generation now growing up in an increasingly secular Australia, who have less and less Bible awareness. That’s why Bible Society Australia wants to introduce God’s words to Aussie kids at an early age – with the free gift of a Toddler Bible for newborns.

Free copies of the Toddler Bible are now available to children born in 2018, and up to 2,500 copies are available.

Toddler BibleBabies registered for this program will not only receive the Toddler Bible, but will also be sent a birthday card from Bible Society each year, until they turn five.  On their fifth birthday they will then be sent a copy of the CEV Big Rescue Bible to see them through their primary school years.

Registration is through the Bible Society’s website.

South Australia mum Kathryn registered her daughter last year when the program started, and said it has begun a family tradition.

“We have a Bible time every night with our two children, and have already made it through the Toddler Bible once,” she said. “It has quickly become our daughter’s favourite book to flick through during the day.”

Melissa Lipsett, Chief Operating Officer, is a mum herself and said Bible teaching is a key ingredient for introducing children to faith in God.

“We want to do our bit to help parents introduce their little people to Jesus, and kickstart a Bible reading habit in families that will grow with their children and help parents encourage their children’s own walk with God.”

Free Bibles for Bubs - Ashleigh and Walter reading their Toddler BibleTwo of the first recipients of the free Toddler Bible in 2018 were Ashleigh and Walter (pictured), who love their evening Bible routine. “They especially love the pictures,” said mum Susan. As they grow older, the stories will begin to come to life as not just colourful pictures, but deeper truths about God’s love and faithfulness.

The gift of a Bible to babies and children is a tradition that has introduced many Australians to the Bible over the past 200 years. This Bibles for Bubs initiative was started to celebrate the Bible Society’s bicentenary year in 2017.
